Feb. Begins

This month is the start of many new things with Urban Impact.  We just opened a new center in Woodhaven, hoping to get more Muslim students coming for English in that area.  Last Thursday was or first night.  We are only having it one night a week as of now.  We had one lady come in.  It always amazes me how willing and eager our students are to learn.

Please ask the Father for more students and open hearts and minds to the Good News at our new center.

We also are starting our after school Kid's Club tomorrow evening.  Camille, Emily, and I passed out about 100 flyers to parents at a school close by.  90% of the population we talked with was South Asain!  We want them to come in work on homework, play some games, enjoy snack, and hear the Father's Truth.

Ask that parents will continue to bring their children.
Ask that the children and the parents will be eager to hear more of God's Word each week!!
Ask that our attendance is exactly what we can handle!

Hopefully we will be starting a regular Word study on Thursday nights at the African Center as well.
Ask that the owner of the building lets us use the center another night.
Askthat our students will come to hear and converse.

Not sure I've shared our focus here at Urban Impact.  We teach English classes at three different centers in Queens and Brooklyn.  Why?  In hopes to share the Good News with many Muslim and Hindu Immigrants in these areas.  Our centers our close to communities full of South Asian and African people.  Once in the advanced stages of english we use the Father's Truth stories to help them read, speak, and descuss in class. The beginner english classes gives us time to build trust with our students so they do not get up and walk out but stay and listen. We ask questions and do activitied that focus on the story so they take the time to really comprend the story and ask if they are confused in any way. It helps them learn, speak and understand English as well as exposes them to the Good News at least once through out the week.  Our afterschool program has the same focus but instead of teaching englsih we asisst with their homework and share a story from the Word.

Please ask that our students will be open to what we teach.
Ask the Father to allow the seed to begin growing inside of them so they will continue to want more Truth.
Also ask that He will continue to bring in students to our centers as well as volunteers.

Thank you again for your thoughts and support! I would not be here without you!
